2:30pm - 4:30pm Next we head over to one of the oldest wineries of the tour.  Gundlach-Bundschu's roots trace back the purchase of 400 acres in Sonoma by Jacob Gundlach in 1858.

Map

4:30pm - 5:45pm The site of the historic Buena Vista Winery is in a park like setting. Built in 1857 by Augustin Harazasty, the winery and press house are the foundation of the oldest premium winery in the State of California. Harazasty was directed by General Vallejo to go on a grape buying expedition to the wine growing regions of Europe. He returned with over 300 varieties of the vitis vinifera grape and is considered the Father of Premium Wine Making in the United States. We invite you and your guests to pull down to the Private Parking next to the Press House built in 1862. From the parking area it is a short stroll to our Wine Tasting Pavillion where we will pour Reserve wines only available here at Buena Vista. The individual vineyard designate series include our a Robert Young Chardonnay 2005, the Pommard Pinot Noir 2005 and the Ramal Vineyard Reserve Merlot and Syrah 2005. This Tasting Experience is complimentary to you and your guests. Independent visitors to the winery pay $15 for this Ramal Vineyard Series. A selection of local artisan cheeses and olives will accompany the tasting.

As the largest landowner in the Carneros Viticulture District (shared by Napa and Sonoma counties), Buena Vista Carneros is a 1000 acre Estate on the North end of San Francisco Bay. The estate specializes in grapes which benefit from cool, foggy mornings and warm afternoons. Our award winning winemaker, Jeff Stewart, a graduate of the University of California, Davis, hand crafts our estate grown Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays, Pinot Gris, Merlot and our newest addition, a cool weather Syrah. We look forward to our visit with us.
